Alba Diez Gracia

Alba Diez Gracia is a Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral researcher (JDC2024-055009-I). She holds an International PhD in Communication with Extraordinary Doctoral Award and Cum Laude distinction from the University of Valladolid (2024). She received the AE-IC Young Researcher Award (2025). She is currently Vice-Chair of the YECREA network of the European Communication Research and Education Association.

She has taught Journalism and has experience delivering talks to early-career researchers on her areas of expertise and on the challenges of pursuing an academic research career. She has participated in multiple research and teaching innovation projects on emerging trends in communication, media ecosystem analysis, news consumption habits, and the application of AI (LabComIA, PolDesPol, Diginativemedia, Nuteco).

At the international level, she has served as Young Representative of the Audiences and Reception Studies Section of ECREA, collaborated with the HEJDE European project (University of Pula), and completed a research stay at the Communication and Society Research Centre of the University of Minho (2022). In 2025, she received a grant from the ECREA Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee to organize a course on positionality in academic practice. She has also been an invited speaker in the Voices of Change seminar series at the Center for Tracking and Society, University of Copenhagen.
